The Bükk Region UNESCO Global Geopark covers one of the most complex geological environments in Hungary, ranging from the diverse karst formations of the Bükk Mts., across the oldest rock formations in the country to the rich cultural heritage of the Bükk Foothills. 109 municipalities are bound together in an area of 2817 km².
